Back to Reality

This is my first attempt at blogging and frankly I'm winging it as I go. Don't know much about it other than what I've read in other blogs and I'm intrigued. So, I thought I would give it a try. I won't go into my history right now but will save that for other times. A little at a time will go a very long way and be a lot less boring, too.

My favorite place in the whole of my world is Yosemite National Park. I just returned from an all-too-short trip with the love of my life and am now struggling with being back in my real world. This was my first trip in the Winter. I can now say I've visited during each season but can't make up my mind which, among Autumn, Winter, or Spring, is my favorite. Notice I've left out Summer. I have been there during the Summer and did have a good time while there, but it is decidedly not my favorite time to be there. You see, as I get older and wiser, I am drawn more and more to places where there are fewer people and a more temperate climate and Summer in Yosemite is way too crowded for me.

Autumn gives the gift of color, but the falls are barely running, if at all. Winter sparkles with freshly fallen snow covering every surface and the falls moderately flowing. Spring is alive with wildflowers in the meadows and the falls are literally roaring with an abundance of water as the snow pack melts in the warming sun.

Yosemite takes my breath away. The sheer beauty, grandeur, and even spirituality grasp me like no other place I've ever been. I have special memories that have been created there. I have gone with three of my sisters a couple of times and my Grandfather worked there when he was young, so there is a sort of family history there, too. My first trip was with my family many years ago when I was about 13. I had the pleasure of seeing the Firefall shortly before they discontinued it forever.

I love photography as a hobby and have to say I have taken so many pictures of the same scenery, yet they are all different. You never get the same picture twice, especially from season to season. But, as I stated earlier, returning to the real world is an emotional struggle. I know of no one who visits that particular national park and does not come away with feeling like they've had a spiritual experience. I will just have to find solace in planning my next trip and that's all there is to it.
